The Application of remote sensing for land reclamation and resource management in Indonesia

Realizing serious deficiences in the a vailability of the necessary up-to-date information on natural resources and the physical environment, a programme and special techniques should be set up for the systematic mapping and inventory of the entire national territory. The introduction of survey techniques through remote sensing from aircraft and specially from satellite has opened new horizons for development of methodologies which could enhance efficien and economy, and even accelerate the acquisition of resource data and land use information. Sattelite imegeries interpretation by visal analysis and/or computer processing, complemented by large scale photography (panchromatic and / or infrared) and ground data could be use in this programm
