2011 Tsunami flows and its Characteristics on the coastal plains of Tohoku Region Japan. Hal. 7-14
Based on the reconstruction of the tsunami flow on the coastal plains in the coastal lowlands of Tohoku Region. Following characteristics were made clear.(1) run up tsunami flows generally indicate their direction orthogonal to coasline, (2) in the Sanriku coastal region, many cities and towns as Miyako, Kamaishi, Kesennuma, Onagawa were severly damaged by the attack of tsunami. The depth of the tsunami near the coast were more than 10m and most building were swept away by the fow of the tsunami,(3) in the Sendai and Ishinomakiplains, modified directions of run up tsunami flow are seen due to the local condition especially location of buildings and roads,(4)Directions of back wash flow in the Sendai and Ishinomaki coastal plains are controlle
