The book is not intended for student spursuing courses in numerical analysis with the view to taking up serius computing work, but was written asan attempt tointroducs someof the simpler techniques ofcomputingto sixth-from mathematics pupils at schools, andengineering and science students at technical colleges. Itis not suggested that special coursesmin numerical analysis be set up at schools and technical collegesfor such students, but that the subject should be mixed into the mathematics coursesto that occasionally theory and practical methods go side by side. Many such occasions arise naturally.
