ISO standards for geographic information
The book is addressed to technical experts who already have some bacjground knowledge in Geographic Information System (GIS) and who want to know more about standardization in GIS, in particular, the role of the ISO. The book also addresses the needs of programmers who are going to implement ISO 19100 standards and need a better understanding of the overall structure of the standards. Last but not least, the book is intended for teaching the basics of GIS. Many of the illustrations will help to better understand some of the rather abstract ISO documents. Chapter 1. Introduce the standadisation language and explain the role of a worldwide “Atandards Developing Organization” This is important for understanding the original ISO documents, particularly if one intends to take part in the standardization process.
