Understanding urban and land governance through action space: implication for acces to land for law -icome housing in managing informal settlements
The Literature on various initiatives taken by internationl organization and, academic instituttions regarding urban governance and land governance converges to the two types of gaps in urban land governance. These are, the conceptual Gap; which should bring together the goverment,market and civil society actors by reconcilling their conflicting actions and logic, and the societal Gao; Wich should manage informal settlements in a suitable manner by adopting a proactive approach in providing access to and allocation of land for low income housing. The concept of action space is adopted as an analytical framework in order to tackle the identified gaps in urban land governance. The concept of ation space provides the potential to analysis the dynamics inthe governance pattern by analysisng push and pull of action space betweeneach combination of actors, through the estqblished relationship between them. In the study, the concept of the action space is modified and conceptuaiezd.
