Coastal monitoring and hazard modeling
Remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) have been recognized to be very useful and significantly contributed to environment management during the last decades, especially for disaster management. Remote sensing and GIS can combine several information about spatial region and hazard characteristics to build disaster scenarios.
This book provides information related to coastal hazards and shoreline changes in remote sensing and geographic information system. The characteristics of shorelines which are constantly changing have consequential changes to coastal environments.
The excercise book delas with examination of Digital Elevation Model and GIS for coastal-tide flood assessment in Semarang. Digital Elevation Model and GIS can be used to build simulation of Tsunami inundation, as explained in this book.
This book includes tutorial related to coastal hazard modeling by principles of Geographic Information Systems in order to be easily understood. Moreover, the book is divided into four thematic chapters which xplain various coastal hazards, accompained by instruction to assess disaster risks and methods used.
