Text
Science resources and development
The first three chapters review the role of science (and hence of scientific research and technology), and of human and material resources, their interaction in the process of development and their impact on human environment. In terms of the social function of rsearch, science and technology, and therefore of their relevance to the needs of society, the much made of controversy between fundamentak and applied science and their concomittants in scientific research and technology, have become irrelevant. Furthermore, in view of the intensified demand for resources on a global scale at this particular time and phase of history, considerations of economic and social development and those concerning the environment, have become convergent.
