The natural resources inventory program has to be supported by a survey and mapping system which can produce base maps and thematic maps timely and economically but still maintain the required accuracy. Satellite remote sensing i a technique which could be integrated into that system. The multiband system in the sensing techniques enable the ehacement of the appearence of various onjects on the earth surfac, while the large coverrage of the landsat frame give a synoptic view and the possibility of regional comparison and analysis. The landsat image shows its usefulness as substitute of topographic base maps and in the correction of existing topo sheets.
