The Establishment of a vertical control network in Indonesia Vol. 1 (Dok.No. 29/1991)
A network of control points known as benchmarks on which the height is known. The height are defined by means of geometric levelling and a datum definition. The geometric levelling connects among the benchmarks by lines and loops. The height than provides the basis for height measurements referring to an unified adopted vertical eference surface for many purposes such as : mapping for any scale, engineering , and scientific purposes in order to detect the movements of the earth's crust. There are some methods of doing the geometric levelling, which basically measure the height diference of two points along plumb line. One wich will be discussed later in detail is the well known spirit levelling method. This technique is still the most
