Base map revision programme of Indonesia using SPOT Data (Dok. 7/1987)

Current base maps of Indonesia at scale of 1:50.000 as well as 1:250.000 have been produced, more than 10 years ago. Due to the need of an up to date base maps for the land resources inventory, national base maps revision has to be carried out. In an conventional way a base map of 1:250.000 is generated from the base maps at scale of 1:50.000, which is a very time consuming task. In order to fulfil the urgent need of the base maps at scale of 1:250.000, a space cartography has been taken into consideration. French satellite called SPOT which was design more for the mapping purpose, gives a very promising future to the space cartography program to solve the problem of getting the base map done in a fastest and economical way.
