The objective of this book is to examine the major changes which have influenced the measurements and processing of topographic and non-topographic spatial data. The emphasis throughout is on new and emerging technology antd itsapplications, although fundamental priciples are introduced where appropriate. The reader will will not find in this volume many of the topics normally associated with testbooks on engineering surveying. Thus, for example, descrptions of standard field survey instruments such as levels and optical theodoliutes are not ic=ncluded, not are simple computational methods such as traverse reductions, or basic yechniquesmof setting out.
