This volume contains the papers presented ant the International Symposium on Marine Positioning, which took place 15-19 October 1990 in Miami, FL. U.S.A. The symposium provided a timely forum for the discussion o problems associated with positioning in the marine environment. In addition, the symposium served to identify the immediate and future requirements and applications of this area, and encouraged interdisiplinary and interagency collaboration between numerous investigators and users, Specific topics covered include instrumentation; systems; methods; relative and absolute achievable and/or projected accuracy; current and future requirements with both uses and applications; both theoretical and experimnetal research and related validation efforts; and innovative ideas and concepts. Yhos volume will be of interest to all those concerned with positioning in tje marine environment.
